John Wheeler
Director
With over 30 years of building experience, John has developed a broad depth of construction knowledge across all facets of the building industry.
Together with his partner Damien Stokes they own and operate Stokes Wheeler a modern-day construction company offering a professional service while maintaining traditional values. Together they have accrued more than 15 awards for excellence in construction and have been regional finalists in Entrepreneur of the year.
John has always worked in and around the aged care sector and understands the difficulties faced by people with mobility issues. The opportunity to use his skills and experience to design and build Specialist Disability Accommodation is “soul food” for him – both professionally and personally.
John has seen firsthand the difficulty in finding suitable accommodation for people in wheelchairs, and finds it quite upsetting to see a person struggling to get around a home that is just unsuitable for their needs – and knows that it doesn’t have to be this way.
Together with Linda and Damien they are committed to building accommodation for people that is not just functional but feels like a real home – a home that someone is happy to live in and features not just special accessibility but is aesthetically pleasing in its design.
John is passionate about giving back and making a positive difference in the community and was the “Founding Father” and mentor for the Men of Business Academy. The MOB Academy was created in the hope of improving the lives of as many boys as possible by providing young men with the skills, knowledge and confidence to be happy, healthy and successful in life after school.
John is also a Board Member for the Qld State Council of KAIROS Prison Ministry and current team member running one of their courses
John is highly regarded by clients, staff and subcontractors.
