Damien Stokes
Director
Damien represents the third generation to carry on the building tradition in the Stokes Family. With over 30 years of construction experience, Damien is well respected in the industry and has wide-ranging experience in all aspects of commercial and civic building projects.
Working alongside long-time friend and business partner, John Wheeler, he runs an award-winning building company, Stokes Wheeler that has successfully delivered a diverse range of projects from inception to completion throughout Queensland and Northern New South Wales,
Their construction portfolio includes aged care, education, hospitality, tourism, industrial and multilevel residential. From major contracts in excess of $30 million to minor works of only a few thousand dollars, Stokes Wheeler’s excellence stems from the ability to deliver quality projects in a timely manner whilst being consistently competitive in the market.
During his 30 years in the construction industry, Damien has seen countless examples of people with disabilities living in environments that are both physically and socially inappropriate. Building Specialist Disability Accommodation gives the Halo Living team the opportunity to build a home that will be functional and beautiful but also provide independence and liveability.
Their combined extensive experience in aged care and institutional construction gives the Halo Living directors a unique insight into the real design needs in specialised accommodation. It is this insight and experience they bring to specialised housing design that sets them apart from traditional domestic builders.
Damien strongly believes we all need to do our part to improve the lives of others by giving back and making a difference where we can. He firmly believes that in the cut and thrust of the building world, too much emphasis is given to profit and not enough to appropriate outcomes and as such he believes that the provision of specialist accommodation for those who need it is sorely overdue and together with Linda and John, he plans to lead the way in making this change.
